New York City: 1980-81

It's so nice to come home from work to a new batch of scanned images. It starts awakening all these forgotten memories.

The Girl on the Corner of Washington Square Park Playing Guitar.

This is Marilyn Kirby, as per her guitar case. (good marketing) She was playing to a large crowd on the south-west corner of Washington Square Park. She was very good.

As I'm working on this scan, cleaning up dust specks in the image (which can take 10 to 60 minutes an image), I start wondering what happened in her life after this? Did she find success as a musician? Did she move back to Ohio and buy a record store? If she's still alive, she's certainly a grandma now.

I wonder if I can find her. A quick Google and I've found a record store owner in Ohio named Marilyn Kirby. (What a coincidence!:) There were other search results as well. It won't be easy, but I'm going to see if I can track Marilyn Kirby from 1980 down.

If she's married and changed her last name before the internet got going, then it will be virtually impossible to find her. If she kept it as a stage name, then I might get lucky and find her. I hope she's not all bitter and miserable. I hope life was good to her.
